DC and Marvel Comics have fully embraced the cinematic medium, using films to reach new audiences and fully explore their existing fan base. The time we live in is indeed an exciting one for fans of comic books, and the superheroes whose tales are told therein, who finally get to see their idols and childhood dreams spring to life in ways they never could have imagined. For men and women who read comics separately and largely in solitude for decades, we finally unite and enjoy the shared experience that is comics at the movies.
With Anchorman director Adam McKay “contributing” to the script, Marvel’s Ant-Man has officially announced Yes Man helmer Payton Reed as Edgar Wright’s replacement. Also released is the first official synopsis for the film:
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
